A brand presence for Dickten Fahrräder

Melanie and Knut Dickten run a bicycle shop in Wuppertal with three generations of history. After several meetings in their shop, this turned into a website that shows everything the business has to offer.

More than 75 years ago it all started in a small coal merchant's shop in Wuppertal-Hatzfeld; today there's a bicycle shop there with its own workshop, a huge choice of brands, leasing, financing and insurance. None of this was visible online. Anyone searching for an e-bike in Wuppertal didn't find the shop, and those who did find it didn't know everything it offered.
We met with Melanie and Knut in the shop several times instead of discussing the project by email. Between the workshop and the sales floor, it quickly became clear what matters: the range and services belong up front, the history of the house is what sets the shop apart from a chain, and for most people the fastest way to an answer isn't a form, but WhatsApp. That's exactly how the site is built.
Everything that happens in the shop has its place on the site:
- All services at a glance: bicycles and e-bikes, workshop, leasing, financing and insurance
- Products and prices, plus the shop's bike highlights
- A horizontal scroll journey through the history, from coal merchant to bicycle shop
- Live opening hours in the page header, showing whether the shop is open right now
- WhatsApp directly on the page, with ready-made requests such as e-bike advice, workshop appointment or test ride
- An interactive contact form with automatic email forwarding
- An FAQ section for the questions that would otherwise end up on the phone
- All brands, partners and suppliers of the shop
- Modern and properly displayed on smartphone, tablet and desktop
The largest choice of brands in Wuppertal is the shop's key argument, so that's how it appears on the site: a running ticker with the best-known names at the top, and below it the complete list of all brands, partners and suppliers. Anyone looking for a specific brand finds it there and knows they can get it in Wuppertal.
A presence that shows the business as it is: grown over time, well stocked and personal. Melanie and Knut are both happy with the result.
